“Nomadland” ganó cinco categorías de los WAFCA

La película estadounidense de drama, “Nomadland” escrita y dirigida por Chloé Zhao fue la gran ganadora, en la entrega de los WAFCA.

Premios WAFCA

The Washington, D.C. Area Film Critics Association – (WAFCA) revelaron a sus ganadores. Esta corporación, con sede en la capital de los Estados Unidos, comprende más de 60 críticos de cine, televisión, radio, prensa escrita e Internet. La votación se llevó a cabo del 5 al 7 de febrero, del 2021.

“Nomadland” recibió la aclamación por parte de la crítica especializada, quienes elogiaron la dirección, cinematografía y las actuaciones, especialmente la de Frances McDormand.

A su vez, los WAFCA otorgaron el premio al Mejor actor, al fallecido Chadwick Boseman. Debido a su ardiente papel como un talentoso trompetista y compositor, que lucha por hacerse un nombre, en Chicago de 1927. En una adaptación cinematográfica de George C. Wolfe, de la obra de August Wilson: “Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom”.

“Nomadland”

Está basada en el libro Nomadland: Surviving America in the Twenty-First Century escrito por Jessica Bruder. Y narra la historia de una mujer, que abandona su pueblo natal para emprender un viaje por el oeste, de los Estados Unidos. Es protagonizada por Frances McDormand, David Strathairn, Linda May, Charlene Swankie y Bob Wells. Fue estrenada el 11 de septiembre de 2020, durante el Festival Internacional de Cine de Venecia, donde ganó el León de Oro.

Y en los WAFCA 2020 ganó las categorías:
